Kees-Jan van Uchelen, Managing Director
Kees-Jan (“KJ”) is a Managing Director of The Silverfern
Group and brings over 20 years of Mergers & Acquisitions, restructuring
and financing experience to the Silverfern team. Having extensive
experience in general industrial and cross-border M&A transactions
including acquisitions, divestitures, recapitalizations, LBOs and
joint ventures, KJ has provided advisory services to a wide variety
of domestic and international companies. He has also made several
principal investments in growing businesses in Europe.
Prior to joining Silverfern, KJ was Co-Founder and Partner of The
Spark Investments, a Dutch advisory and investment boutique focused
on middle market M&A transactions. Prior to The Spark Investments,
KJ co-founded Providence Capital, a multi-family investment office,
where his responsibilities were focussed on the firm’s private
equity strategy including direct investments. Prior to Providence
Capital KJ was retained by TNK, today Russia’s 2nd largest
oil company, to advise the CEO and management in the areas of corporate
governance, international financing structures, European tax issues
and, at a later stage, the merger with BP. KJ’s responsibilities
also included investment advice and structuring of the private wealth
of TNK’s shareholders.
Before TNK, KJ was an advisor with Deloitte and an M&A boutique
(McKinsey spin off) engaged in Corporate Finance and M&A. He
began his career as a tax lawyer with PriceWaterhouseCoopers.
Based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, KJ co-leads Silverfern’s
merchant banking business in Europe with responsibility for originating
proprietary investment opportunities for Silverfern’s investment
partners, in addition to interfacing with senior CEOs, company founders
and owners on the Silverfern Advisory Board.
KJ earned his LL.M in Tax Law from the University of Amsterdam, the
Netherlands. He is fluent in four languages: Dutch, English, French
and German.
