Melbourne, Australia, December 21, 2018 – The Silverfern Group, an investment management firm making direct investments in middle market private equity, US CRE private debt and real estate globally, today announced that it has exited its investment in Marvel Packers following the successful sale of the Company to Lamb Weston Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: LW), a large international strategic competitor.
Marvel Packers is a well-established manufacturer of potato-based products, specializing in the production of frozen French fries. “Our investment in Marvel Packers exceeded our collective expectations,” said Silverfern Managing Director Mark Baldassarre. “We saw in Marvel what others in the Australian market did not, we worked to develop a strong relationship with Marvel’s founder and CEO, and we helped assemble a qualified board of directors. We are confident that Marvel will continue to prosper and grow under the Lamb Weston umbrella, and we are excited to usher in this new chapter in the Marvel Packers story after only 14 months of ownership.”
Silverfern Managing Partner Clive Holmes added, “The Marvel Packers investment demonstrates everything Silverfern is about. We leveraged our deep local market knowledge to understand the potential for Marvel Packers to grow, we formed strong bonds with Company management, and we brought in a world-class, locally and industry-experienced investment partner in Direct Capital. We are proud to have contributed to the growth and future of Marvel Packers as a result of our investment and ownership.”
